We might have wrong decisions in life, decisions that we wish we’ve never made. But have we ever thought that making a wrong decision is still our choice? Have you ever chose to make a wrong decision and yet, didn’t regret it at all? Let me share you a story that will show us that sometimes, making wrong decision is not that bad as it may seem. Sometimes, a wrong decision accidentally leads to freedom and happiness.
Fiona is having the happiest peak of her life. She had a job that can sustain her needs and a loving and supportive boyfriend who has been there through her ups and downs for two years now. She couldn’t ask for more especially when her mom asks her if she wants to comeback to school and continue her studies. Two years ago, Fiona was forced to stop from going to school because her dad died due to pneumonia. Her mom can’t support her studies because the company where she works suddenly declared bankrupt. Her mom goes back to their province and plant crops so she could send Fiona some money for her allowance. Fiona says to herself that she needs to stand up for her to be able to survive. She applied in some semiconductor company near at her place and luckily gets hired. Fiona lives alone in their house, she was lucky that she had Joaqy as her boyfriend, best friend and brother to her. Joaqy treats her just like his queen. He always make sure that Fiona eat, and sleep well, he also make sure that Fiona gets everything that she needs. It keeps on going for two years. They also have future plans for themselves, after they graduated from college, Joaqy will go to Canada and work there while Fiona will practice her career as an Engineer. When they are both stable in all aspects, (physical, emotional, spiritual and financial) they will get married and migrate to Canada to start their own family. But things didn’t go as they expected to be, that plan was starting to fall apart because Fiona is starting to fall out of love to Joaqy simply because he met another guy and that is Jason, a process engineer in their company. Fiona met Jason on a swimming party. At first, Jason didn’t notice Fiona until Ruel, a tacking technician throw Fiona in the pool. When Fiona was getting up from the pool, all guys stared at her as she was the only person there. The guys can’t take their eyes off to Fiona; they all stared on her gorgeous body. Her curves are as perfect as the 8oz coca cola bottle. Jason starts to flirt with Fiona as soon as she gets in their table. They talked from midnight till dawn. Fiona tried to resist Jason’s charms but she failed. She felt that there is a strong connection between the two of them, something that she can’t explain through words. She even felt “love at first sight” but Fiona assumes that after that night, everything will be back to its places, she’ll be an unnoticed operator and Jason will be he’s boss again but that didn’t happen. Jason got her mobile number and steal a kiss from her lips before she got off in the jeepney, and from there, Fiona and Jason’s affair started.
Fiona starts to sneak out from Joaqy every night just to be with Jason. 2 weeks after the affair starts, Fiona found out that Jason has a long time girlfriend; they’ve been together for 4 years now. By the time that Fiona found out about Jason’s girl, she felt like her heart was ripped off, her fantasy world slipped in her hands and broke into pieces. She confronts Jason about it, and he didn’t deny it. She starts to cry in Jason’s arms while he keeps on saying “sorry, I didn’t expect that we’ll go this far.” After that night, Fiona tries so hard to avoid Jason; she didn’t answer his text messages and calls, she even turn off her mobile phone just to get rid of him for a while. At work, she pretends that she was so busy at her work station whenever she sees that Jason is around and staring at her. The chasing just stops when Jason cornered her on the hallway and asks if they could talk. After work, Jason invited her in the bar where they usually hang out. He told Fiona that he likes her so much but can’t commit with her because he was already committed. She confess to Jason what she really felt, she told him that she already fall in love with him. After she confessed everything, Jason hugs her so tight and say “let’s try to work things out and see where it leads us”, Fiona agrees to him even though she knows that it was a wrong idea. She just told to herself that that wrong idea will give back her fantasy world again.
She had a hard time managing her time for Joaqy and Jason, it was really a hard time for her because Joaqy doesn’t know about Jason and Jason doesn’t know that Fiona also has a long time boyfriend. She intentionally didn’t tell it to Jason just to get even with him. From 8:30pm to 10:30pm she was with Joaqy but she make sure that she’s home around 10:45pm onwards because Jason will start to call her on her landline phone and might go to her place around 11:00pm. This schedule continues for 6 months. In those 6 months, Fiona always felt the guilt for Joaqy, she was so sure that she doesn’t love Joaqy anymore but she can’t break it to him. She knows that Joaqy can’t take it if she will break up with him just because of Jason. She also felt guilt for Jason but she can’t face the fact that Jason will leave her if he found out that she also has a long time boyfriend before him. So because of this dilemma, she decided that she will keep on pretending that everything is fine between her and Joaqy so that he will not get suspicious to her. Things keep on happening; Fiona filed her resignation letter to her manager and fixes all the papers she will need for the enrolment in school this coming June 2008.
But the time comes that some of the lies Fiona made was revealed. One night, Fiona made an excuse to Joaqy so she could go home early. 20 minutes after she got home, Jason called her just to check her if she’s already at home. Fiona asks Jason if he could come to her house so he could help her in some of her drawing plates. She didn’t realize that Joaqy is outside her house waiting for her to turn off the lights. Joaqy saw Jason entered Fiona’s house. He got so badly mad. He screams outside her house and made scandalous acts. Fiona was so lucky that Charmaine was in her house for sleep over. Fiona talks to Joaqy outside while Jason was locked in Fiona’s room with Charmaine. She manages to cover her lies with another lies, although she manage it all, she was still humiliated for what Joaqy did that night. She realized that she has now a valid reason to break-up with him. Fiona talked to Joaqy the next night, she said to him that thing aren’t working out and she feel so humiliated in her neighborhood, she made so many excuse just to play safe again. For Fiona, it is the only chance she had to break up with Joaqy; even though she know that it was wrong, she still stand for her decision, a wrong decision that will make her free from Joaqy to be able to grab the happiness with Jason. Joaqy beg Fiona for another chance, he said that he will not do that again and just do what Fiona wants him to do. But she still insists for a break-up. Joaqy loves Fiona so much so he just decided to set her free because he knows that it will make her happy. Fiona makes sure to him that they will still be good friends.
After Joaqy and Fiona broke up, things did well between Fiona and Jason. Although Jason needs to go to Singapore for unavoidable circumstances, they still agree to be on an “open relationship”. Long distance relationship between Jason and Fiona work out for 5 months, they communicate through emails and once a month Jason always make a call to Fiona. In February 2009, Fiona found out from Ruel that Jason came home to the Philippines. She got mad, because Jason didn’t inform her anything. She sends him an email asking for an explanation why he didn’t tell her that he will be back. 2 weeks past before she got her reply, he said “I’m sorry, I can’t continue everything that we had; I’m so thankful that once in my life, I met someone like you. Take care always”. After reading his email, tears starts to fall down in Fiona’s eyes. She knows that Jason might leave her but she didn’t expect that he will do it through email. She expects that Jason will tell it to her personally so they could still have chance to save the friendship, but it didn’t happen. Fiona cried for 3 days, and 2 nights since she received the email. She still wants to cry to ease the pain but there are no tears left. She decided to stand up again and face the world. She said “I’m ready to face the challenges of life that awaits me; I’m going to love and fix myself first, before I commit to another relationship. I know, life is tough but I can be tougher”. After the break-up, Fiona gets back on her feet, earn more friends and have her social life that once she has lost, she focused to her study and got good grades. And now, she realized that her wrong decisions made her what she was today.
